Questions about Trading journal
What do I need to enter for each trade?
The account, symbol, side, size, entry and exit prices and times. Stop loss, target, fees, swap, strategy, tags, notes and screenshots are optional, and they make your analytics more useful.
Does JammalFX calculate P&L for me?
Yes. From the prices and size you enter, JammalFX works out the P&L in the account currency, the pips and the R-multiple when you set a stop loss. You can also type the P&L your broker reports.
Can I log trades that are still open?
Yes. Save the trade as open and close it later with the exit price and time. Open trades are not counted in your results until they are closed.
Can I export my journal?
Yes. Export the trades of any filter to a CSV file and open it in any spreadsheet.
What can I record for each trade?
The account, symbol, direction (long or short), entry and exit times and prices, size, stop loss and take profit, fees and swap, the strategy you used, tags such as setup or mistake, your notes, and screenshots of the chart before and after. Only the basics are required; the rest makes your analytics more useful.
How is the R-multiple calculated?
R is the net result of a trade divided by the money you risked at entry. When you set a stop loss, the risk is calculated from the entry, the stop and the size. A trade that made twice what it risked is +2R, and a full stop-out is −1R.
